I Will Follow You…

Standard

“If I could make you mine, I’d go wherever you will go”…these are song lyrics; while listening to this song, it sparked an idea in my mind. What is it about a person that makes you fall in love with them? Is it really just when you meet them, you can take one look into their eyes and know that they’re the one that you want to spend the rest of your life with? Or is it when you spend time with them and slowly realize that they’re your version of perfection, and you suddenly feel yourself getting butterflies in your stomach when you are just thinking about them and you blush when someone mentions their name. What exactly is going on in your brain itself that suddenly makes you click with someone else, whether it be a guy or a girl. Do soul mates truly exist? What about teenage love… if you’ve felt it then you know what i’m  talking about. When one person is your world and you can’t focus on anything except them and when you’ll see them next. Is it possible that we have multiple soul mates? Multiple people that are put on this earth for the sole purpose of being your happiness, and you to be theirs. It’s a crazy thought.

What even creates the feelings you have for someone? Is it actually your heart? Biologically, that would be impossible. Your thoughts don’t come from your heart, they are from your mind. But explain this, when you get your heart broken, why do you feel pain in your chest and not your head? Why do you feel like your stomach is shriveling up and like you physically aren’t capable of doing anything? When you fall in love, granted all I’ve felt was “teenage love”, you feel like you are on top of the world, and you and that person are the king and queen. At least that’s how it should be.

Going back to soul mates, what if there are people who were placed in your life specifically to break you, to tear you down and to make you cry? These people are meant to give you experience and build up your strength in the long run. Some of us strive to find someone who makes us happy, and some of us just go along in life hoping that one person comes to them. No one knows how to fall in love, that’s why I hate when people ask “How do I make someone love me?”. You can’t make someone fall in love with you, all you can do is be yourself and one day, if it’s meant to be, someone will want you and your personality, whether it be goofy and fun or serious and complex. I believe that there is someone out there for everyone. I believe that everyone should have that piece of happiness.
